Classic Base Ingredients:
- 1 (12 oz) bag fresh cranberries, rinsed and drained (Ocean Spray preferred)
- 1 medium orange, unpeeled, seeded, and quartered
- ¾ to 1 cup granulated sugar, to taste
Optional Add-ins:
- ½ small apple, chopped
- ½ cup crushed pineapple, drained
- 1–2 tsp grated fresh or ground ginger
- ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
- Pinch of cinnamon or allspice
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
Instructions
- Prepare Cranberries: Rinse cranberries under cold water, discarding any soft berries. Drain well.
- Quarter Orange: Cut unpeeled orange into quarters and remove seeds.
- Pulse Ingredients: Add cranberries and orange quarters to a food processor. Pulse 8–12 times until finely chopped but not puréed.
- Mix Sugar & Add-ins: Transfer mixture to a bowl. Stir in sugar and optional add-ins as desired. Mix well.
- Chill: Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight to allow flavors to blend.
Notes
- Let sit overnight for best flavor.
- Use zest only if orange peel is too bitter.
- Store in fridge for up to 14 days or freeze up to 3 months.
- Adjust sweetness with honey, maple syrup, or sugar substitutes as needed.
